ASPECTS OF THE CEREMONY

Give some though to the kind of wedding you want to have. Interfaith? Contemporary? Non-denominational? Spiritual? Creative Civil Ceremony? All of the above?

If You Could Express Anything In Your Ceremony... What Would It Be?
It is your wedding day! What do you want to say to each other? How do you want to express yourselves. What religious sentiments do you want to include -- if any? Is there any family tradition or special way of including your family in the ceremony that you'd like to consider?

Rev. Laurie Sue Brockway reguarly meets with couples before the wedding to discuss the options. Some couples are very clear about the ceremony they want, but most appreciate a little guidance and coaching to helping them clarify ceremony preferences. That is pefectly natural!

Ceremonies can include...
The wedding ceremony can be composed of many different cultural traditions or it can focus on the family traditions the Bride and Groom were born into. It can feature elements, rites and rituals from one or more of the following:

* Judaism
* Kabbalah
* Christianity
* Hinduism
* Buddhism
* Taoism
* Islam
* Sufism
* Shinto
* Shamanism
* Native American
* Goddess Spirituality
* Celtic
* Eyptian
* Essene

A Wedding Ceremony Your Way
You can opt for a ceremony that is traditional, or a contemporary ceremony with elements of tradition.

You can opt for a ceremony that is mystical and symbolic, such as a sacred love ceremony of ancient marriage rituals.

Personalizing the Ceremony
Think about the vows. You can write them yourselves and read them to one another, or you can adapt them from vows that are already in existence. Speak the vows in English and/or in the language that represents the culture you hail from.

Contemplate readings -- religious, cultural or contemporary -- and poetry you might like to incorporate.
