What I Do in My Role as a Public Historian
Research, writing, archive consulting, and designing online exhibitions. Creating educational programs, content, articles, and books. Working with publications and history organizations, and covering museums, libraries, and historical sites. Helping families preserve their heritage. Specializing in women's history, ancient history, writing history, New York history, and the intersection of public history and spirituality.
What is Publc History?
Public History is a vast field that has many forms of expression.
A public historian engages with the public to make history accessible and relevant. This may be through work in museums, archives, and historic homes. It could be through books, education, and documentaries.
We are trained to interpret and preserve history, and to help people share their stories, as well as tell the stories of those no longer here.
We must also address the most difficult aspects of history, and historical trauma, is a way that is respectful to descendant communities.
My scholarly work focused on the intersection between history, spirituality, and cultural heritage and my primary body of work encompassed research on women's history, the Goddess and Public History, and New York History and Museums.
Creating books, written content, online exhibits, and historical and museum-related websites is my specialty.
